Chinese phone maker Vivo has launched its X5Max smartphone in India for a price tag of Rs. 32,980 (US$520.54).

The Chinese manufacturer claims that the X5Max is now the world’s slimmest smartphone at 4.75 mm thick. Meanwhile, the Oppo R5, which is currently being touted as the world’s slimmest smartphone, measures 4.85 mm.

The company said that the X5Max features the industry’s thinnest chassis at 3.98 mm, while its screen measures just 1.36 mm thick.

First launched in China last week, the Vivo X5Max sports 2GB of RAM as well as a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor.

With a focus on the musical experience, the new device supports Hi-Fi 2.0. It also comes with a Yamaha YSS-205X chip.

Measuring 153.9 x 78 x 4.75 mm, the new handset runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat along with Vivo’s proprietary Funtouch OS 2.0 UI. Funtouch UI is Vivo’s take on Android, which is similar to what Chinese firms Xiaomi and Oppo have done with MIUI and ColorOS respectively.

Other notable features of the X5Max include a 5.5-inch 1080 Super AMOLED display and 16GB of inbuilt storage, which is expandable via a microSD slot up to 128GB. Equipped with the Sony IMX214 sensor, the new phone boasts a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel selfie snapper in the front.

The dual-SIM device (nano SIM and Micro-SIM) supports 4G LTE on both SIMs. The phone is powered by a 2000mAh battery.

Aside from 4G LTE, X5Max’s connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, Micro-USB, USB OTG, GPRS / EDGE and 3G.
