Social Goodies – Could it Change the Face of Social Retailing?

Social commerce is becoming more and more prevalent as time goes on. But it is definitely about to reach the next stage, thanks to a site about to launch called Social Goodies.

This website aims to get charities in on the act as well, and the way in which they intend to do it seems workable enough. The idea may sound similar to the way in which Groupon and similar entities are operating, but it has a unique twist.

When you sign up for the site – which is currently accepting members in its pre-launch stage – you will be in a position to take advantage of a great deal on one product every day. This will be a deal offered by a big name in the retail business. The discount is stated to be between 40% and 70%, so there is the potential to save some significant amounts of money.

But it doesn’t end there. Every time someone purchases an item from the offered deal, Social Goodies will donate 20% of the purchase price to a charity. The buyer gets to choose from a range of charities that have also signed up to the initiative.

The whole premise sounds good and only time will tell whether it will work or not. Clearly it offers a good opportunity for both charities and businesses to get some publicity. It also offers web visitors to the site a chance to get some fantastic reductions, just for being a member.
