Massive Traffic Drop Seen by Google+

The buzz around the new social networking site, Google+, was incredible when the site first got up and running a few months ago.  The initial membership was by invitation only, with only a small number of people able to join and find out what all the fuss was about.  Then the company opened the floodgates to let everyone in, leading to a huge rise in traffic.

September 20th was the big day when Google+ became available to everyone.  Needless to say, the traffic rose impressively on that day and on the following few days as well.  Some sources report a huge rise of more than 1200% during this period.

However, the latest news for the social media site is far from good.  You might expect a certain degree of levelling off, but this is not what has happened.  Instead of continuing to perform well the site has dropped massively in terms of traffic.  The latest reports indicate that Google+ has shed around 60% of its traffic since then.  This must be worrying for the search engine giant, because it was touted as being a new rival to Facebook.  According to these figures, it would appear that Facebook has nothing at all to worry about.

Only time will tell if Google+ will bounce back to any degree.  Nevertheless, in truth the signs are not good.  If so many people joined and failed to keep on using the site, the writing may already be on the wall for its long-term development.

  2. I personally noticed that google+ is playing an important role to get good traffic and definitely it has strong impact in your SERP result.

  3. I do not think there will be chance that Google+ surpasses Facebook or Twitter. It’s too late, and there is really nothing spcial enough.
