One business sector that does not appear to have been harmed at all by the recession and the recent turbulent times that have followed on from it – the freelancing sector.
This is borne out by evidence that Elance, one of the main marketplaces online for various services, has now gone past the $300 million dollar mark for the amount of work undertaken and completed.
There is no doubt that some people have been made redundant in recent times and turned to the internet to freelance with their skills instead of trying for another job in a difficult market. Workers from the US, UK, Europe and many other countries have started their own freelancing businesses as a result of looking at sites like Elance.
Elance is also making constant improvements to its site, making sure that both the providers and those hiring them can enjoy a better service all the time. The total paid for work delivered stood at $317 million dollars at the time of writing. So the milestone has already been left behind in recent weeks in favour of reaching new heights.
Elance is preferred by many online workers in many countries because of its clean layout, realistic pricing for jobs and safety of the workplace in general. These represent just three of the reasons why this major milestone has been reached. No doubt we can expect other milestones to be reached as well in the near future
